Live NWS alerts
Watches, warnings and advisories across 30 states, coloured to the official NWS scheme and drawn as county shapes or storm-based polygons.
Animated radar
Two hours of RainViewer reflectivity with a scrubber, playback and opacity control.
Location forecasts
Search any US city or county for current conditions, hourly, 7-day, 15-minute precipitation, and the alerts covering that exact point.
Map layer filtering
Filter the map by hazard level, family, or one specific product.

A smaller navigator
The rail carries too much. The plan is five destinations and no more, weighted toward the local forecast rather than the map: Home, Today, Hourly, Tracker, and Radar & Maps. Today absorbs the multi-day outlook instead of splitting it into its own tab, which frees the fifth slot for the hurricane tracker. Settings and the roadmap move out of the main navigation and into a secondary spot, since they are visited once and then forgotten.
Hurricane tracker
Active tropical systems with NHC cones, forecast tracks and per-storm pages. Seasonal, so it matters most from June through November.
Severe weather outlooks
SPC convective outlooks — the day 1-3 tornado and thunderstorm risk areas.
River gauges
USGS gauge levels against flood stage, for inland flooding the radar cannot show.

Saved locations
Keep a few places one tap away instead of searching each time.
Longer precipitation outlook
A 12-hour precipitation timeline. True forecast radar imagery is not available from any free source — radar nowcasting only reaches about 30 minutes ahead — so this would be a chart rather than a map layer.
Historical storms
Look up past hurricanes and severe events by year or name.
Notifications
Alerts for a saved location, which needs a service worker and push permissions.
